U21 Premier County Final

This Saturday afternoon sees Doon play in their first county final of what we hope will be many for the adult club this year. Our U21s take on Na Piarsaigh in the decider at 4pm in Bruff. We have had a great run in the competition so far having lost only one of our group games – that to Kilmallock in the second round. Adare had been our first opponents in early March and we saw them off relatively easy 3-9 to 3 points. However from then on nothing was handed to us on a platter. Deel Rangers pushed us hard in the third round and we came out of that one with just a single point victory. At this stage we had qualified for the quarter-final where we met Ballybrown. This game in Bruff could have gone either way but at the final whistle we had two points to spare. Who will forget the two semi-finals against a great Patrickswell team where we needed 120 minutes to secure our place in this all-important final. Both the original semi-final and the replay were thrillers to say the least and consistently steady performances from centre back Cathal McNamara and the entire forward line have to be commended.
This U21 panel led by captain Michael Barry, have worked hard and dedicated themselves to the task in hand from the first training session this year and we wish them the very best of luck on Saturday. Good luck also to their manager Paddy Coleman, his selectors and backroom team.
