On Monday last in what were terrible conditions the Gaelic Grounds hosted our u21 Championship Semi-Final v Patrickswell. Playing with the aid of a gale force breeze it was essential to get off to a good start and to build up a substantial lead by half time. Clocking up 1.06 inside the opening 10 minutes had us off to the ideal start with the goal coming from the stick of Pat Ryan after great work from Barry Murphy. Further points from Murphy and Josh Ryan had us well on top before Barry Murphy hit the net with our second goal after a good run from Dylan O'Dwyer. 22 minutes had passed before Patrickswell were off the mark with their first score of the match. By then we had 2.09 on the scoreboard. Points from Darragh O'Donovan, Josh Ryan and Pat Ryan has us leading at half time 2.12 to 0.03. Patrickswell started off with a point inside opening few minutes of the second half and with the gale behind Patrickswell our backs withstood a lot of pressure from The Well attack and played the ball out smartly from defence. Cian Lynch hit the net to give Patrickswell a glimpse of hope as we were still awaiting our first score of second half. It could have been closer but for a great save from Eoghan McNamara in goals. Dean Coleman and a great score from Dylan O'Dwyer were our only scores of the second half with the scoreline finishing Doon 2.14 Patrickswell 1.08.
