Junior B East semi final

Doon had a very slow start to this East Championship Semi Final against neighbours Cappamore despite hitting the front first with a Paddy Coleman free. This lead was short lived as two goals in quick succession from Cappamore has us on the back foot early in the game. Doon finally stepped up a notch after 20 mins and dug deep to hit back with goals from Kevin Lenihan and wing back Shane Whelan to claw back the deficit before the break and leave it all square at the half time, 2-05 a piece.
The second half mirrored the first as Cappamore hit the net for the third time after just a few minutes leaving Doon to play catch up once again. Accurate frees from Coleman and a goal from Rob Mcloughlin left us trailing by a point in the final minutes, when Brian Fenton pointed to send Doon and Cappamore to extra time for the second time this year. Doon 3-09, Cappamore 3-09.
Two 10 minute periods of extra time followed with almost nothing between the sides. Strong defensive displays from Tadgh Hayes, Eddie Ryan and James Fox, along with points again from Brian Fenton and sub Shane McKenna saw us hold out for a 3-11 to 3-10 win. Doon now play Pallasgreen in the East Final, and are also through to the County Quarter Final.
