Great  success and celebrations over the weekend as the senior boys booked their place in the senior Cup after a hard earned win over Bruff in Claughaun on Saturday night. The boys knew this was going to be a fierce battle as in a recent challenge against the same opposition in Bruff the game ended in a draw.
Against a swirling breeze that favoured Bruff Doon opened the scoring with a great point from teenager Ger McPartland who has been exceptionable for Doon over the year. This was quickly followed by a point from play from Mike Fitzgerald and two points from placed balls. Michael has been a real addition to the Doon team this year after recent injuries. However Bruff were keeping in close contact with Doon and with seven points (five from frees) were looking very settled going into the interval. A point from our industrious and talented Full forward Bernard Crowe however narrowed the margin to two just before the interval. Half time Bruff 0-7 Doon 0-5.
In the second half Mike Fitzgerald again pointed from a placed ball to put a minor between both teams. Our backs were now leading the charge from the back with Eddie Kiely, Don Anderson, Con O' Connell, Eamonn and David Stapleton, Rodger Maher and Cathal Mc exceptionable. While Denis Moloney and Mike McKenna worked their socks off at midfield. A wonderous point on the turn from Mike Barry levelled proceedings and it was now felt whoever got the first goal would win the contest. Mike fitz soon followed with an equally good point to put doon ahead. Bruff came back hard though and points followed tit for tat after. Denis Moloney was next up from a long range shot followed by Michael Ryan and Mike fitzgerald. With no goals coming Doon ran out eventual winners 0-13 to 0-12.
