Senior pride was restored when our adult team had a very hard fought win over bruree in the county senior b quarter final in caherconlish on Friday night. With Mike fitzgerald back from injury and Eddie Kiely a settling influence at centre back Doon with the aid of a stiff breeze got off to a flying start with points from Mike McKenna, Michael barry and Niall Maher. Niall had been relocated to centre forward for this encounter and proved very advantageous as many of the driving runs were instigated through the centre. Ger Mc Partland at 17 is having a great year at wing forward and many of Con O Connells puck outs found Gers hand whose vision picked out Mike Fitzgerald and Mike McKenna for great points. David stapleton at wing back also tacked on a great point from seventy yards out to pull Doon ahead after Bruree had scored a goal. Not to be outdone Denis Moloney was inspirational on the other wing and also added a point to his name after bruree had scored a goal. Doon went in at half time  leading 0-9 to 1-1.
In the second half Doon had to be on their toes as Bruree now aided by the breeze threw everything they could at them. It was then our full back line of Cathal Mcnamara, Rodger Maher and Don Anderson were outstanding as time and again they repelled Bruree attacks. Cathal especially was immense and was coolness personified grabbing the ball from the air and clearing the ball up the field to launch another Doon attack. At corner forward  Michael Ryan was been a real menace and caused panic in the Bruree defence and struck two points to widen the gap further. Doon were in for a nail biting finish as Bruree scored another goal to leave three points between the sides. Michael mckenna however sruck another pointed free to leave four between the sides on the hour on a scoreline 0-14 to 2-4.
